A tale of social anxiety, a trope of judgements.
I hesitate to unviel my Spotify
What if I ask, you like it?
And they simply deny!
What if they prefer
Taylor Swift, Drake, and Kanye
Artists so popular and celebrated,
Well-known, high rated.
And I still listen
1-Ds melodies, old and belated
Swirl with deftones, quite underrated
Music preference, I've cultivated.
But this hesitation isn't about
The music taste, I share
But the social anxiety, I care
It's not the songs or their beat,
But the judgements, I might meet.
If you see my words closely,
Where my emotion flow
You'll see, its not music solely
Or the hesitation which grow.

I still listen to spice girls from the 2000s and get people ask me, “who are those?”
Wait, this is so so good!! I would never imagine someone writing a poem on their music taste!!! It captured each and every emotion we feel regarding our music taste which might not match with some others cause they listen to more popular or mainstream music. For me, I tend to listen to a lot of female pop music and old Bollywood (like from the 2000s) music. That’s my jam. And I also like listening to more classical music, both Hindustani and western.
What a brilliant poem!! Absolutely loved this ♥️
